Day 1: Observations and Hypothesis
Today we started the unit by asking our selves several questions. things like, why do volcanoes erupt, why do earthquakes happen, where do they happen and why only in those places?
We then looked at several video that help us make some observations.
Day 2 & 3 Research and presentations
Starter questions:
Day 2:
1. What is the most unexpected observation you made for earthquakes?
2. What is most unexpected observation you made for volcanoes?
Day 3:
1. Write 2 things you learned from the videos
2. List three questions you still have concerning your topic.
3. Are you ready to present today? Why or why not?
We used computers and detailed maps to gain a better understanding of the topics of earthquakes or volcanoes. The research helped us to answer questions we had from the previous day. Also it lets us test the hypothesis developmented. The Map was published by USGS and holds the records of previous volcanoes and earthquakes. The information was then put into a presentation and prepared for the class. We Then presented our finding on earthquakes and volcanoes. we focused on practicing our presenting skills and discussing the information found in our research.

Day 4 : What are they thinking?
Starter Questions:
1. LIst 3 realistic things that you and your family can do to prepare for an earthquake.
Day 5: Earthquakes
Starter Questions:
Day 5 Quiz
Earthquakes can be one of the most distructive forces on our planet and we looked at several of the aspects through labs. Each lab focused on how earthquakes form or on the mechinisms deep in the earth the cause warthquakes to happen.
Here is a link to a presentation on earthquakes:
Day 6: Volcanoes
Stater Questions:
1. At which plate boundary do the largest earthquakes happen?
2. What do geologist do for the public?
